Am I the only person who thinks that Israel's attack on Gaze is really stupid? I really don't see that point of how blowing up bridges and power plants can free a soldier. If this is meant to deterr Hamas from future terror tactics, I don't think it's working because when you are dealing with irrational people that do not have any hope, the normal logical deterrence does not work. Israel has been bombing the Palestinians for many years, I don't see how that changed the situation for the better at all. I do sympathize with the kidnapped soldier and I don't think hostage release concessions is a good idea, I just don't think an escalation of conflict make anything any better. Not to mention the horrible international publicity, hatred from Palestinians, redicalization of the Palestinian society, and more dead soldiers. I really don't know what the Israeli Prime Minister is thinking (well, one guess is for political reasons, to show the hardliners within Israel who have been screaming foul because of the constant rocket fires form Gaza, but I really can't think of another reason. Military action has NEVER freed a kidnapped soldier in the past).
